Why Have a Book and Music Fair?

A Book and Music Fair offers so much to your synagogue or school than any other fundraising event.  A Book and Music Fair offers the best selections of Jewish and secular literature to teach Jewish values.  A Fair will provide books about meaningful subjects and values for discussion and will enrich everyone’s understanding of Judaism and foster an atmosphere of life-long learning in your home.  We have been known since the beginning of history as “Am HaSefer – People of the Book.”  What better way to fulfill our destiny than with a Sefer, So Good Book and Music Fair?!

Book and Music Fairs

Book and Music Fair Plan Alef – The books and music for your Fair will be carefully selected so they are geared to the interests and ages of the families in your synagogue or school.  I will provide the books, CD’s and cassettes with inventory lists and suggestions for successfully running the Fair.  Because of shipping costs, for synagogues and centers outside the Chicago area, a single copy Fair or the Mini-Fair Plan detailed below is recommended.

18% of total sales may be retained as additional profit from your Fair or may be applied as credit toward the purchase of new books and music for your synagogue/center.  Shipping/delivery costs from Libertyville, IL will be billed to your synagogue or center.

Book and Music Fair Plan Bet – The books and music for your Fair will be carefully selected so they are geared to the interests and ages of the families in your synagogue or school.  I will provide the books, CD’s and cassettes with inventory lists and suggestions for successfully running the Fair.  In addition, I will attend at least one day of the Fair to present “Book Talks” and chat with people about the books and music, resulting in increased sales.

15% of total sales may be retained as additional profit from your Fair or may be applied as credit toward the purchase of new books and music for your synagogue/center.  Shipping/delivery costs from Libertyville, IL will be billed to your synagogue or center.

Mini-Fair Plan – Smaller fairs held at various holiday times in addition to or instead of one large fair.  “Mini-Fairs” are terrific opportunities to encourage families to buy books and music at all seasons.   People who have held “Mini-Fairs” report that they could display books, CDs and tapes more conveniently and that people seemed to be more in the mood to shop at Passover, Yom HaShoah and Yom HaAtzmaut than they had been at Hanukkah time.   Families enjoyed the “Mini-Fairs” more and purchased more books and music, as they felt less overwhelmed by large crowds and the pressure of holiday shopping.

Percentages of profit work the same way as they do for regular Fairs, as detailed above.
