Transmitting the ideas and values most important in our religion to our children is among our chief duties as parents and grandparents. Being effective in this critical task becomes ever more challenging in today’s modern world. Selecting excellent Jewish and secular books to best make the connection between children’s own interests and Judaism can be very difficult, especially with so many books from which to choose. That’s what the “Shanah Sefer Sack” does for you! At Sefer, So Good, I find the special books that open the hearts and minds of children everywhere. Each selection is thoughtfully chosen for the individual child, encouraging them to seek further, explore more, and engage themselves in the world of Judaism.

How the “Shanah Sefer Sack” Works

By completing the simple order form on the next page, you can give that special child (or children) in your life a fabulous gift – the chance to be amused, entertained, captivated, informed, comforted, thrilled, transported – all through the wonderful world of literature. I will personally choose a book each month that will be uniquely suited to the individual child’s age, gender, reading or listening level, and interests, and I will send the book beautifully gift-wrapped and addressed to that special child. The first book will be My Jewish Holidays, personalized with the child’s name, hometown, names of his or her friends and family, and a personal message from you. The next five months will bring the child specially selected books that will pass on Jewish values, tell Jewish stories, help the child understand stories from the Torah, encourage the child to think about ways to make the world a better place, and/or teach the child about a holiday taking place within the month. The seventh book in the year will be Noah’s Ark, again personalized with the child’s name, hometown, names of his or her friends and family, and a personal message from you, making the child the star of the story and encouraging the joy of reading. The rest of the books for the year will be specially selected with the same important goals in mind as the books in the first half of the year.

How the “Shanah Sefer Sack” Books are Selected

Each book is individually selected by me, according to the information you give me about the child’s age, gender, reading or listening level, and interests. I choose the books from among over 600 children’s books in my Sefer, So Good title list, all with Jewish content. There are wonderful books for all ages – from toddlers to teenagers – at Sefer, So Good. I know that you want to select the best books that will thrill your children, and I know you don’t want to waste time or money making the wrong choice. It is my mission to find that book that will be the special one to make a difference in the life of your child. Let me use my years of experience as a Jewish educator, teacher, and children’s librarian to help you give the gift of reading for an entire year. I am available to you by phone or email for questions or suggestions at any time, so don’t be bashful – let’s work together! I also enclose a card with each book, inviting the child to let me know how he or she liked the book, to make suggestions and requests, and to give me feedback so that I can do an even better job of selecting for the next month.

The Cost of the “Shanah Sefer Sack”

For 12 books, sent once a month, the cost is a total of $150. This includes a variety of hardcover and paperback books, gift-wrapped and shipped directly to the child. If you would prefer to purchase only 6 months of books, sent either once a month or once every other month, the cost is $75 – whatever works best for you! If you send books to more than one child in the same family, I’ll offer a break in price. My personalized approach allows me to truly customize each selection.
